Outdoor painting will be conducted on the Fenway including master class
discussions, demonstrations, technical exercises and in-depth critiques.
1:30
Lunch break at the Museum Cafe, not included in the tuition, and admission
to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
3:00
75 minute guided museum tour concentrating on light and the Gardner's
collection of watercolors. Students are free to continue looking at
museum exhibits until the galleries begin to close at 4:45PM.
Parking
is available
on the street or at the nearby Museum of Fine Arts.
The location can be reached through public
transportation.
(Take the Huntington Avenue No. 39 bus or the Green Line E train to
the Museum of Fine Arts stop.)

List
The supply list is intended as a guideline - shop around for the things
and colors you love. REMEMBER: We are walking some, you are carrying
all!
Carrying
bag or back pack
Wide-mouth plastic containers (2)
Quart container of water (half gallon better)
Towel, blanket or chair to sit on
Easel
Plastic
palette or plate to mix paint
Brush
- a number 12 round that points is the most versatile if you are relying
on one brush - otherwise your choice.
(to test how a brush points, put it in water at the store to see if
all the hairs come together)
Paper
Small newsprint
or other economical sketch pad
Watercolor paper
look for something in your price range that is acid free or all rag
(D'Arches is worth the investment)
Check out watercolor blocks, very useful on location.
You may want to have 2 surfaces prepared to work on during the session-i.e.
2 stretched pieces of paper, 2 watercolor blocks or pads.

Buy professional
artist watercolors. If you are on a budget, you will be off and running
with the first three listed:

Special
instructions for the outdoor workshop:
This workshop is conducted outdoors in all but inclement weather (i.e.
pouring rain.) Be prepared to walk comfortably with what you bring.
Wear good shoes and appropriate outdoor attire and be sure to allow
for changing weather: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, biodegradable insect
repellent, sweatshirts, drizzle gear. Don't overlook the importance
of thirst quenchers and snacks.
